A strong supporter of Swedish jazz pianist Jan Lundgren, Marshmallow Record's producer Mitsuo Johfu recently adopted Japanese audio manufacturer Sun Valley's tube-based mastering equipment which helped realize warm and organic sound in his CDs.

So an idea was hatched between Marshmallow and Sun Valley to jointly release a limited-edition vinyl LP of Jan Lundgren's best recordings. They pressed a total of just 600 LPs, 300 to be distributed by each company. This is Lundgren's first-ever vinyl LP!

These tracks were recorded at the famous Sun Studio in Copenhagen (often used by ECM) by legendary engineer Bjarne Hansen between 2002 and 2007. The piano was Hamburg Steinway's Model C. They used two B&K microphones for the piano, the same microphone covered in urethane foam for the bass, and several mics (mainly Neumann's condenser mics) for the drums. The 24-bit, 192kHz digital master was remastered using Sun Valley's tube D/A converter without any additional effects.

While being sourced from a digital recording, the sound quality of this analog disc is open, warm and magical. The performances by Lundgren and his "golden Scandinavian trio" with Jesper Lundgaard on bass and Alex Riel on drums are superb throughout. As a bonus, the producer gave us a previously unreleased take of "The Shadow of Your Smile."

Strongly recommended to fans of Jan Lundgren, vinyl collectors and audiophiles who love the sound of vinyl!

Recorded at Sun Studio, Copenhagen, Denmark in September 2002, December 2003, March 2006 and February 2007. Recorded by Bjarne Hansen. Remastered by Makoto Ohashi using Sun Valley 192S. Contains materials previously released on Marshmallow CDs.
